* 12:00 pm: Butler @ Cleveland State: This game would be a lot more intriguing if Butler wasn't, you know, bad this year.

Bettin' is a Habit - 2/5--Ballin' is a Habit

You are probably going to be spending your gambling funds on the "Big Game" tomorrow, but if you want some side-change, you might want to take a look at some of these plays.

Butler (14-9, 6-5) at Cleveland State (21-3, 10-2)
The last time these teams met, roughly a month ago, Butler handed the Vikings their worst loss of the season. I think CSU returns the favor in a big way. They have won six-in-a-row and just defeated second-place Valaparaiso by 11. On the flip-side, Butler has lost four of their last five, the most recent being to 2-10 Youngstown State.

Pick: Cleveland State -3.5

Three-Man Weekend Weave: Down weekend, overall--CBS Sports

Butler at Cleveland State (Saturday, noon, ESPN2). This game is on television, and was probably scheduled so that audiences could watch Butler zipping through another easy run to the Horizon League title. Instead, this is a sterling opportunity to see if the torch is really being passed to the new sheriff in town. Cleveland State is 10-2 in the league, but one of those two losses was in Hinkle to the Bulldogs, so there's still some life in Butler, at least in a spoiler role.

College Basketball On TV For February 5, 2011--Blogging the Bracket

Early Afternoon (ET)
...
Alt. Ch.: Butler Bulldogs at Cleveland St. Vikings, ESPN2/ESPN3 (12 p.m. ET)
The Vikings can drop the Bulldogs to .500 in the Horizon with a win, and in the process further solidify their control of the conference race.
KenPom.com prediction: Vikings 71-65, 65 poss.

Today's College Basketball Picks--Searching for Billy Edelin

Butler @ Cleveland State(-3.5): Take Butler - The Bulldogs have lost three straight, the Vikings have won their last 16 home games. Seems strange we're going with Brad Stevens here, no? Well with an at large bid completely out of the picture, Butler will welcome today's adversity (Ronald Nored may be out, it's "Butler Blackout Day" at the Wolstein Center) and eek out a win here - or just not lose by more than four points.
