Is Butler's run proof mid-majors are closing gap?--Rivals.com

None of these three is in the category of Butler's Gordon Hayward. He's a lock for the lottery if he decides to stay in the draft.

His draft position is the reason Hayward doesn't need to work out for anyone this week. If he stays in the draft, he'll probably work out for only a handful of teams in the lottery.

Butler coach Brad Stevens said Thursday that Hayward has sat down with a few agents to get a vibe of the process and see where he stands.

"He's trying to decide if he's two feet in or not," Stevens said. "From the way he played this year, it certainly made him a marketable guy."

Stevens said Hayward has final exams Friday, Saturday and Monday, so there was no thought of working out this weekend.

He said Hayward paid to work out with a trainer in Indianapolis to get his body in better shape. But that's the extent of anything extra at this point.

"He got good feedback, and his ceiling is high enough that people really like him early," Stevens said. "But he hasn't made a decision yet."

If Hayward returns, the Bulldogs are a top-5 team. Ole Miss has a shot to be the SEC West favorite if White returns. BYU will likely be the pick to win the MWC if Fredette comes back. Bledsoe could be the star guard on a reloaded Kentucky squad that expects to challenge for the SEC East title again.

Gordon Hayward: Now Is the Time for the NBA--Bleacher Report
2010 NBA Draft Early Entrants: The biggest impact--Ballin' is a Habit

Gordon Hayward, Butler, sophomore: Butler became the feel good story of the decade in college basketball when they made their run to the national title game in their home city. The crazy part about that run was that it was made a year early. In other words, with the youth on Butler's roster, they have a chance to be even better next season, pending Hayward's NBA Draft decision. Willie Veasely and Avery Jukes both graduated, but the rest of Butler's roster will be back next season, including Matt Howard, Shelvin Mack, Ronald Nored, and even Brad Stevens.

If Hayward does return, Butler could end up being a top five team in the preseason. But he has a realistic shot at being a mid-to-late first round pick. It will be interesting to see what Hayward does.

Joe Schad: BOISE'S KELLEN MOORE WEARING BUTLER T-SHIRT--ESPN.com

Boise State QB Kellen Moore has been wearing a Butler University T-Shirt that he purchased when watching one of their NCAA Tournament games in person this year. He told me he's such a fan he might start wearing it to practices. Moore says he sees similarities between Butler and Boise because neither team truly came out of the blue. They're considered underdogs but really have had sustained national success. Moore told me he is in favor of a 4 or 6-team college football playoff, but if the Broncos were to go undefeated this season, he believes the program has its best opportunity ever to participate in the national championship game.
