Mid-Majority Chat Block, Episode 615--The Mid-Majority

Hey Kyle: Given your experience with the Mock Selection, do you trust selection committee members to understand that a 2-1 record against the top 50 RPI's is better than 4-6 against the top 50 RPI's?
2:06 The Mid-Majority:
It's one piece of the puzzle, but winning two out of three games against the top 50 shows that Team In Question made the most of their opportunities. It was really drilled into our heads about the importance of Average RPI Win and Loss, how that's a real single-digit indicator of how well a team did and how well it scheduled. For instance, Butler (http://www.bbstate.com/inc/+sheet.php?ID=35 ) won't be denied this year, not only because of 3-3 vs. the RPI Top 50. Teams in the 140's and 150's in W are the really good ones, and Butler's ARPIL is 40. It took care of business, and now it deserves what it's going to get.

Hey Kyle, Butler has put together a fantastic season, but how do you feel the committee should/will take into account that a couple of Butler's Top-50 wins have a bit of an asterisk attached to them (Ohio State not playing with Evan Turner and the bizarre Xavier ending).
2:30 The Mid-Majority:
Because the field is selected before it's seeded, it's probably not going to be a conversation they'll have until deep in the proceedings. But even then, it'll be in the context of comparing the Bulldogs' resume to other like teams, and their sheet will be put up on the projection screen next to that of another team (repeated as necessary). We won't know who those other teams are.
