ATB: Buzzer-Beaters Galore, Conference Tournament Aplenty and Bubble Consolidation…--Rush The Court
Horizon. I don’t even know where to begin with this one. The scene: two-seeded Detroit is in a tight game with Wright State. Raiders guard Miles Dixon dribbles himself into a terribly difficult position under the basket, pivots, turns, then swooshes a game-winner at the buzzer. Enough drama for one conference tournament’s semifinal round, right? Wrong. The night-cap was even more wild. Host and top-seed Valparaiso trailed Green Bay by two points as Ryan Broekhoff approached the three-point line. The rest is captured in the video below (a note: watch Valpo coach Bryce Drew’s reaction as Broekhoff’s shot falls through. Just awesome.). The Crusaders will stage a do-or-die Tourney showdown with Wright State Tuesday night.

Wooden Award ballot and tourney thoughts--Andy Katz Blog
• I loved seeing the complete opposite reactions from Valpo's Bryce Drew and Marquette's Buzz Williams after buzzer-beaters Saturday. Drew fell backward to the floor and rolled over. He experienced the thrill of making a last-second shot as a player and now knows what it's like to coach one. Williams never uncrossed his arms in the corner as Vander Blue hit the game-winning shot off the glass. I couldn't tell whether he even smiled. But I wouldn't have been surprised in the locker room if Williams didn't dive on the floor. He's not about himself in public, but he pours his passion into every possession, practice and game.

• The semifinal buzzer-beaters for the Horizon League (Wright State over Detroit, too) couldn't have come at a better time after the league took a hit with Butler's departure (I was the first to say it would take a step back). The Horizon League lost a top-25 presence, but the competitive balance and excitement didn't wilt.

Local Colleges Insider--Cleveland Plain Dealer
Cleveland State: The Vikings (14-18) ended their season with a first-round loss in the Horizon League Tournament, but CSU should have bright days ahead. With the return of 6-8 forward Anton Grady from a knee injury, HL Newcomer of the Year Bryn Forbes, the addition of guard Trey Lewis (a transfer from Penn State) and the veterans on the returning roster, CSU should be very deep. Only senior Tim Kamczyc is departing.

Next season, for the first time since CSU's 2009 NCAA Tournament run, head coach Gary Waters should not only have a strong starting unit, but also a deep and experienced bench. With 6-5 Junior Lomomba recovered from a foot injury and 6-9 Luda Ndaye healed after a hip injury -- plus continued improvement by 6-6 Marlin Mason -- the Vikings should be at the top of the Horizon League heap.
