Tim Kamczyc added 15 points and Sebastian Douglas 11 for Cleveland State. Forbes scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half and Cleveland State shot 57.1% (16 of 28) in the period to take a 43-35 lead into the break.
The Vikings (10-8, 2-2) extended their lead to 60-45 behind a Kamczyc layup and led by as much as 16, 68-52, after Forbes converted two free throws.
Cleveland State and Detroit (11-6, 3-1) each committed 15 turnovers but the Vikings scored 16 points off those errors, compared to the Titans’ seven.
Cleveland State, which shot below 40% in three of its last four games, hit 51.9% (28 of 54) from the field.
