Cole's chance

Spoelstra altered his rotation during Saturday's victory over the Brooklyn Nets, giving the majority of minutes at point guard to backup Norris Cole.

"Because he played well," Spoelstra said of the shift. "I wish I had more commentary about it. He played well. He deserved those minutes. Those minutes were effective for us, so I kept him in there." . . .

Tuesday's game in Washington is the Heat's lone road game over an 11-game span, the Heat having been in South Florida since a Nov. 17 victory in Phoenix and not out on the road again until playing Dec. 20 in Dallas.

"We haven't been out there for a couple of weeks," Spoelstra said. "Even though we're only going for a game, we just want to make sure we have the right mindset to play in a different type of environment than we've been used to the last 10 days."

Pregame Shootaround 12.2.12: Getting you ready for Sunday’s lineup of games--CollegeBasketballTalk
Game of the Day: Valparaiso vs. Saint Louis (4:30 p.m. ET)

This game won’t be about what happens on the court, but rather the circumstances surrounding the game itself. Former coach Rick Majerus passed away Saturday and the Billikens will have less than 24 hours before taking the floor against Valparaiso. Expect an emotional pregame and words from players and coaches postgame about their desire to play in Majerus’ memory after his passing.

The fact that the game takes place in St. Louis is likely another factor that could make for an especially emotional night Sunday.

Cole Darling, Wright State – He averages 13 per game and finished a 54-41 loss to Bowling Green State with just eight points. Hey, it’s slim pickins’ tonight.
Today's Specials: USC-Nebraska highlights slow Monday--Eye On College Basketball
Potential upset: The best chance at an upset is probably Nebraska over USC, but we already mentioned that one. As a result, there really aren't any good opportunities for an upset. I even thought about putting Bowling Green over Wright State (7 p.m.) here, but Bowling Green is actually favored by four. So, this is one of the few nights where there will be no out-on-a-limb predictions.
