Eleven Under-the-Radar Freshmen That Every Fan Should Know About--College Court Report
Jermaine Jackson Jr. – Detroit Mercy Titans

2017-18 Stats: 12.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.2 spg; 36.2% FG, 88.0% FT

The best young back court in the Horizon League belongs to the Detroit Mercy Titans, and freshman guard Jermaine Jackson Jr. will be a key piece of the puzzle moving forward. While Jackson Jr. has had some struggles in terms of shooting this season, he is still one of three Titans who are averaging double-digit points per game, posting 12.5 points per night out. He also leads the team with 3.1 assists per game, and is one of just three players to appear in all 21 games for Detroit Mercy. With his streaky shooting, Jackson Jr. can get hot and lead the Titans to victory, much like he did against Youngstown State (12-of-17 FG, 32 pts, 93-91 win). Or, he can go cold and struggle like he did last time out against Oakland (2-of-9 FG, six points, 92-86 loss). The talent is there, and as his career progresses, the jumper will become more consistent and so will the points.

With Jackson Jr., Corey Allen, Josh McFolley, and Kameron Chatman all together for at least one more season, the Titans are a team to watch in the Horizon League.
