News On The Horizon 2/15/2024

#SearchSzn Weekend Recap 2.11.24--Burner Ball

Green Bay 84, Youngstown State 83

Sundance Wicks is quickly making a name for himself at Green Bay. The Phoenix are 17-9 and in first place in the Horizon League in his first season. Wicks will be a hot name next year if he can repeat this early success. Jerrod Calhoun is another name to watch this cycle. The Penguins’ head coach is working on back-to-back 20-win seasons and he’s very high on the potential mover list. I expect him to get some looks at several mid-major openings this cycle.

Top 10 Transfer Rebounders--The Portal Report

6. DJ Burns, Youngstown State: 10.1 RPG

Burns, a New Orleans native, started his career at Southern where he averaged about nine points and five rebounds. At Murray State for the last two seasons, Burns averaged seven and six. Now in his senior season at YSU, Burns has put it all together. The two-time transfer leads the Penguins in rebounds and adds 12.6 points per contest as well. Burns’ performance Wednesday against Robert Morris led Youngstown State to an 87-77 win. Burns scored 24 with 17 boards following 32 and 16 the previous game.
