With the NBA draft quickly approaching, the Pacers
are holding their final pre-draft workouts this week. Monday’s group
included Marcus Burk from IUPUI, TreVion Crews from Bethel, Kyle Mangas
from Indiana Wesleyan, Aaron Wiggins from Maryland and Matt Mitchell and
Jordan Schakel from San Diego State.
Burk
was seventh in the country for D1 schools in scoring, averaging 21.7
points on more than 40% from deep. The Franklin Central High School
grad also chipped in a Horizon League best 1.8 steals per contest as
well as 3.7 boards and 2.2 assists on his way to being named to the
Horizon League second team.
“I do feel like I’m an
underdog,” Burk said. “Coming out of high school, I only had one D1
offer and that was Campbell, and I made it this far. That just continues
to push me to work even harder to be the best I can be and see how far I
can take my ability.”
