Since June 15, when college coaches could contact high school juniors-to-be directly, Smith has heard from a more than two dozen schools. He was first offered a scholarship by Indiana Wesleyan and picked his first Division I offer last week from IUPUI.
“(Getting the first Division I offer) is relieving,” Smith said. “It feels like a lot of hard work I’ve put in has paid off. Not fully. I still have a long way to go.”
...Small, who averaged 16.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game as a junior at Franklin Central, has the attention of college coaches. Since the start of July, Small has picked up offers from Ball State, Purdue-Fort Wayne, IUPUI, Indiana State and Kent State. Among others in contact are Miami of Ohio, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Tulane.
