Freshman of the Week

Dominique Matthews, UIC

Matthews set a career-high with 28 points in a win over Youngstown State and followed that with 12 points against Cleveland State, giving him 20 points per game last week on 53.8% shooting.

Lost in the scoring shuffle, Matthews, a 6’2″ guard, also averaged 6.5 rebounds and tied his career high with 7 boards against Youngstown State.

Game of the Week

UIC 84, Youngstown State 81

In a back-and-forth, high-scoring affair, Youngstown State guard Cameron Morse set a UIC Pavilion record with 44 points, but the Flames came back from down 75-67 in the final minutes to edge the Penguins. Matthews scored his career-high in this game, and freshman guard Tarkus Ferguson made a huge 3-pointer with 2:15 left to give UIC an 81-80 lead.
