Good Morning Hoops Nation: November 18--The Mid-Majority

Loyola (Ill.) 74, Georgia 53 -- The Ramblers' season started off in bizarre fashion on Friday. Senior guard J.R. Blount established himself as the nation's leading scorer for a moment, scoring a gigantic 41 points on 12-for-22 shooting. However, Loyola dropped that opener by seven points... to Division II Rockhurst, also known as Kansas City's Jesuit University. But when the team moved on to the NIT Season Tip-Off pod in West Lafayette, Ind., the Ramblers came alive. Breaking open a 29-all tie at halftime, Loyola destroyed the SEC tourney champions. It was the school's first win over a team from that conference since a 1964 NCAA upset of Kentucky in a regional third place game, back when they did things like that.

Purdue 78, Loyola (IL) 46. All you really need to know about this game is that it was 40-14 at halftime. We’re sure Loyola was content to leave the NIT with its upset over Georgia in tow, but Purdue is a really good team. E’Twaun Moore and Robbie Hummell led the way with 14 and 13 pts, respectively, but it was a solid team effort from the Boilers, placing five guys in double figures. Purdue will play BC on Wednesday night.

Hi Jim-

Is Jay Pearlman at Hoopville on your radar?

He's been turning out a number of nice pieces on the Horizon League recently. Including:

http://www.hoopville.net/conferences/23.asp?EntryID=19878

and others.

Thanks again for the extremely useful service you provide to the Horizon League basketball community!

Cheers,
Adam

Adam,

In fact, I have on occasion posted a Hoopville link, but only when someone on the Butler board pointed out a new column by Bill Kintner. I never bothered to check for other writers, but I have now added them to my "radar screen" on a regular basis.

Thanks!
