McCoy: My money's on Wright State's Grant--Dayton Daily News
Taken for Grant-ed: It seemed strange when I heard Bobby Grant (Bobby always has been his name to me) was named athletic director at Wright State University.
When Grant was in high school at West Carrollton, he was a friend of my oldest son, Brian, and Bobby spent a lot of time in my house and he told acquaintances, "It was a cool place to visit, because Hal always had stuff around his house like a Jack Billingham baseball glove or a baseball signed by Fred Norman."
Then again, maybe it didn't seem all that strange. I could tell at the time this kid was a go-getter, enthusiastic in everything he did. I remember saying, "This kid is going places."
So now he is AD at WSU, an excellent choice. As a WSU grad, he has green in his veins, and he'll continue to be an outstanding fundraiser, which he was even before he replaced Mike Cusack in the AD's swivel chair.
