Noteworthy Non-Tournament Games

Milwaukee (1-1, 124 KP) at Florida (2-0, 23 KP), 6 p.m. (SECN+/ESPN+ ($))
Patrick Baldwin and the Panthers travel to Gainesville for a Fort Myers Tip-Off on-campus contest. While the Gators handled FSU in surprising fashion on Sunday, Milwaukee dropped its last game, against Eastern Kentucky at home, on Saturday.

Milwaukee at Florida (-14.5), 6 p.m., ESPN+. The Gators’ hard-to-shake reputation for softness may get shook this season, if Sunday’s 16-point pasting of Florida State is any indication. Mike White has imported some hard-playing transfers in 6-3 senior point guard Myreon Jones (Penn State), 6-3 senior Brandon McKissic (UMKC) and 6-5 senior Phlandrous Fleming (Charleston Southern). And 6-11 senior forward Colin Castleton, who had 15 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks against the Seminoles, appears headed for an SEC player of the year caliber season. The Panthers’ heralded 6-9 freshman forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. has averaged 20 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists the first two games, but Milwaukee still lost to Eastern Kentucky at home by six on Saturday. The only way they pull off this upset is if the Gators have a letdown, but I don’t foresee that happening. The pick: 10 on Florida.

News, Notes, and Highlighted Games: Wednesday, Nov 17th--Hoops HD

HIGHLIGHTED GAMES:

-TOLEDO AT OAKLAND.  We will highlight this one because Toledo is unbeaten (albeit untested) and Oakland is 1-1 with a win at Oklahoma State, so while neither of them may be inside the bubble come March, at Present they are both off to a good start, so we’ll keep highlighting them until they give us a reason not to.

NEWS AND NOTES:

-Oakland blew out Toledo last night.  I’m not ready to say that Oakland is clearly an NCAA Tournament at-large caliber team, but I am definitely going to say that we should be watching them right now.
