Norris Cole videos: A night of perfection and ejection--Through the Arch
Miami Heat’s Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem will have their hands full--Miami Herald
Chalmers will draw the initial assignment on Tony Parker, though Norris Cole and perhaps LeBron James also will chase the Spurs’ point guard at times. The key?

“Keep a body on him,” Chalmers said. “Try to match his speed and not let him get any open looks. He never gets rattled. It’s going to be my job to make it a tough series for him.” Chalmers has always been disruptive in passing lanes, but he said his individual defense “is a lot better. I keep getting wiser and wiser.”
Linda Robertson: Spurs’ Tony Parker a headache for foes in any language--Miami Herald
Parker was fast then, and he’s even faster now. He consistently beat the Grizzlies’ Mike Conley and Tony Allen on the dribble, which means Miami’s Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole will need to have their spikes on. He will force James and Dwyane Wade into lots of chases.

Parker is most dangerous when threading through a thicket of screens. The Spurs are a precision team that has this down to a science. Should Heat defenders go over or under those screens? And when Heat players shift and swipe, rotate and help, shooters Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and Matt Bonner will be ready to catch and shoot.

Parker is a master of misdirection. He cuts the corner and penetrates the lane as well as anyone. His quickness and agility make him underrated on defense, where he will frequently match up against Chalmers’ pugnaciousness and Cole’s speed.

Pacers dominate Heat, force Game 7 to decide Eastern Conference Finals--Miami Herald
Chalmers had 10 points. He began the game 2 of 2 from three-point range but didn’t contribute much after the first quarter. Norris Cole had nine points to lead the Heat’s reserves. Ray Allen had six points, going 2 of 8 from the field and 1 of 4 from three-point range.

2. Two Wisconsin-Green Bay players released statements through the school Thursday after spending the past month wondering if head coach Brian Wardle would be dismissed due to verbal-abuse allegations. Keifer Sykes and Alec Brown said: “We are really happy that the investigation is over, and we are excited about playing together next season for Coach Wardle and our other coaches. This has not been an easy couple of months for our team and coaches to go through and we are ready to move forward. The character and communication in our locker room is really good right now, and we are focused on getting better this offseason and contending for a championship next year.” Lost amid these investigations are the players who were held hostage by uncertainty. Wardle was cleared of mostly everything, though he must have an adviser with the team next season to watch what occurs. UWGB has a legit shot to win the Horizon League.

Miami Heat needs to hit the boards harder--Miami Herald
This and that

• Spoelstra said he did not use Norris Cole or any point guard for 6:39 of the second half Tuesday because he wanted to give more minutes to Ray Allen, who played less in the first half than Spoelstra generally prefers. Allen shot 4 for 13 and is now 9 for 29 in the series.

5. Make their depth count. Indiana has a very limited bench. The Heat, meanwhile, have received great contributions from Ray Allen, Shane Battier, Chris "Birdman" Andersen or Norris Cole. This has to have an impact on the game. It's surprising it hasn't had more an impact on the series thus far.

Morning Five: 05.27.13 Edition--Rush The Court
Lost in the wake of the Rice/Rutgers fiasco was the continuing investigation into Wisconsin-Green Bay coach Brian Wardle who had been accused of abusing his players both verbally and physically. On Friday, the school announced that an outside investigation had cleared Wardle. Unlike Rice, Wardle had the support of many of his players and perhaps most importantly did not have a video of his alleged actions floating around for the world to see. Given what was released the school’s decision should not be that much a surprise. What is interesting is the concessions that Wardle will have to make despite being cleared–receive a disciplinary letter, have someone overseeing him, and not be able to renegotiate his contrast, which ends in 2017. Given those concessions it would seem like there was something happening at Wisconsin-Green Bay (perhaps something considered as benign in sports as cursing) even if it was not as bad as what Wardle was initially accused of.

Heat silent on Roy Hibbert's claims of dirty play by Shane Battier--South Florida Sun Sentinel
Battier also got into a minor scuffle with Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough in Game 1. The physical play continued with Heat guard Norris Cole being whistled for a foul while trying to drive past Indiana's David West. Cole hit West in the groin area, a play he says was unintentional.

"I don't think they were shots or anything like that," Bosh said. "It's a part of the game. We know some plays are going to be physical."

Mahinmi's foul upgraded

For all the talk of the knee toward the groin area of Pacers center Roy Hibbert by Heat forward Shane Battier in Game 1, and of Norris Cole landing a shot to the same area of Pacers forward David West, the NBA has lowered its hammer on a different play.

The Sun Sentinel learned Friday that the NBA has upgraded a foul by Indiana backup center Ian Mahinmi on James, with 11:38 left in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's game, from a common foul to a Flagrant 1 foul.

Had that ruling been made at the time of the foul, not only would James have received the two free throws awarded, but the Heat also would have retained possession, which was not the case on the play as called during the game.

No league action was taken on the Battier and Cole plays.
