PFW men release nonconference slate

Purdue Fort Wayne’s men’s basketball team will open its season Nov. 4 at the Gates Center against Division III Bluffton University, the Mastodons announced.

The team will face its first Division I opponent Nov. 8, when it takes on Central Florida in Orlando.

The Knights are one of three major-conference opponents PFW will face during the nonconference slate, with trips to Penn State (Nov. 20) and Michigan (Dec. 22) also on the schedule. The Mastodons opened their 2023-24 season with a victory over Big East foe DePaul.

PFW also has home games against Bethune-Cookman (Nov. 12) and Southern Indiana (Nov. 16), plus road trips to Texas A&M-Commerce (Nov. 30) and Eastern Michigan (Dec. 15).

The Mastodons will play in the Sunshine Slam tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida, in late November, part of a bracket that also includes Chicago State, Drexel and Radford.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Horizon League schedule will be released later. The Mastodons are coming off a 23-13 campaign, their second 20-win season in the last three.

Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball releases non-conference schedule--Cincinnati Enquirer

Tuesday, Nov. 19: at Northern Kentucky

Negotiated under previous AD Mike Bohn UC will return to the site where the Norse knocked them off 64-51 in 2022. UC led 40-36 at halftime then could only muster 11 second-half points. The Bearcats won handily 90-66 at Fifth Third Arena last year but this game is part of the agreement with NKU for allowing UC to use their floor back in 2017-18 when Fifth Third was being renovated.
